Will Govt slaps their own mouth?!?!?!

the world is becoming quite crazy.... economic crisis.. crazy weather...
fishermen turning into pirates, seeking ransom from shipowners to survive.

Under Singapore Law, Singapore person is not allowed to pay ransom. Person refers to any individual, company or association or body of person

question .. is a singapore entity allowed to pay ransom in order to protect their asset and lives of their crew in event of a marine piracy????

I don't think it is wrong to do that. It is a life and death matter. Govt should not believe that everything is under their control.. maybe only in Singapore. We are talking about the pirates from Somalia, Gulf of Aden, South China Sea, and of course, Straits of Malacca. They can be ruthless...

UTG couldnt stand the ambiguity, she emailed M of Law. No reply from them.

yesterday's headline - Somali pirates seize Singapore Container ship in Indian Ocean

I wonder what will govt be doing now.. hmm..
i think it is time to change the Act...
